ARNOLD M. WASHTON, PHD
An internationally renowned addiction psychologist, researcher, and published book author, Dr. Washton has specialized in treating substance abuse and other addictive disorders since 1975.
In addition to directing several large addiction treatment programs, Dr. Washton has served as substance abuse consultant to professional sports teams, foreign governments, media organizations, multinational corporations, the U.S Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. State Department and subcommittees of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. He also served as Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at New York Medical College and at New York University School of Medicine in the Division of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. He has been principal investigator of several research grants from the National Institute on Drug Abuse and from major pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Washton is licensed to practice psychology in New York, New Jersey and Florida and holds national Proficiency Certification in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Alcohol and Drug Abuse from the American Psychological Association, College of Professional Psychology.

A widely recognized treatment expert and book author, Dr. Washton has published seven books and over 45 journal articles on the treatment of addiction. In his most recent book , Treating Alcohol and Drug Problems in Psychotherapy Practice: Doing What Works, Dr. Washton describes his integrated treatment approach to treating addiction that incorporates many of the best clinical practices and evidence-based treatments available in the field today.
Currently, as executive director of Compass Psychological Services, Dr. Washton oversees the delivery of all non-medical addiction and psychotherapy services and provides a variety of direct patient care services including initial evaluations, individual therapy and group therapy.
